I have never seen a woman at this age with this kind of vital power without heavy adherence to femininity. Helen Mirren in RED is amazing, but she played a beautiful woman who used traditional beauty standards. This? Is a woman who is sexy because she gives no fucks about her appearance and SHE’S ALLOWED TO BE OLDER, MASCULINE, AND FIERCE. She isn’t a heroine, she’s a HER who happens to be a woman.

I’m amazed. She’s so fucking wrinkled! Look at that! She looks OLD! Women aren’t allowed to get wrinkled. Helen Mirren is 74 and my 57-year-old mother is more wrinkled. Susan Sarandon is 73 and has less wrinkles than most 50-year-olds. Judi Dench is a bit wrinkled now but she’s a decade older than either of them.
I want more of this. I want women in movies to be allowed to look like this. We can start with action movies, where they’ve got an “excuse,” and then work our way out to every actress being allowed to have wrinkles.
